Money Management Program
Ownership, independence and access to wealth are the hope of every American, and financial education has remained an essential tool in making this hope a reality. Social research shows that the average American is able to answer correctly only 42% of the total questions asked on personal finance, with only 8% answering at least a quarter of the questions. Four in ten American's admit that they are living beyond their means primarily because of the misuse of credit at a younger age. A further study shows that inability to understand the usefulness and management of finances at teenage years is largely responsible for the high rate of Bankruptcy filing, bad debt and much more financial mismanagement among young adults. This inefficient money mangement training at teenage years is affecting the present generation and financial establishments in the Country. Presently, we are faced with a moot question: How can our stocks be secured for long term planning and retirements if the future generations are ill equipped in finacial management? For these reasons, the Zion Hope Outreach Minstries is putting in place a Money Management Program to educated our youth about the importance of earning, investing and saving their money. It is our goal to steer our youth in the right direction by giving them the financial knowledge they will need to become productive citizens. Our Money Management classes will began in January 2005. Please contact our web page for dates and times for this program.
After School Mentoring and Tutoring Program
The Zion Hope After School Mentoring and Tutoring Program began in April 2004. This program has certified teachers, para-professions, parents and other community volunteers working one on one with our students. Mentoring and tutoring is an academically effective way of providing students with both one on one attention and the academic assistance they need.
Zion Hope is net working with our local law enforcement, faith groups and non-profits groups to mentor our students. Students are recommened to the program by parents and teachers,we serve fifty students from grade k5-8th ; transportation is provided from the school to our facility. Students arrive at the facility at 4:00pm given a nutrional meal before the daily activities begins. The day ends at 6:00pm the students are transported back home.
Zion Hope After School program is uniquely designed to help students with home work, enhance their reading, math and computer skills. There is significant academic improvement ( including at risk youths) when students have continuous acess to electronic word processing, educational software and the internet. With continuous access to technology, students become proficient in writing reports, tracking and analyzing data, researching information on the internet, enhancing basic skills and learning new ones.
Our goal is to prepare students for the future; technology is an essential tool to obtaining a job in the workplace of today and the future. By 2006, over 50% of job growth will be in technology. The American economy will need more than a million computer scientist, engineers and system analysts over the next ten years. With out programs like ours, few students from under privileged areas will be prepared.
ZION HOPE SUMMER PROGRAM
The program started in the month of June students are picked up at a designated area and transported to the facility. students arrive at 8:00am given a nutritional breakfast and lunch. Events includes Arts and Crafts, music, field trips, recreation activities and computer classes.
This program is designed to keep kids off the street and out of trouble. Georgia has an estimated ethnic minority youth population of 35% during the past decade, minority youth have consistently accounted for approximately 58% of all juvenile arrest in the state. statistics shows there are more than 2,500 children locked up in Georgia daily, most are jailed for non-violent crimes like shoplifting, breaking windows, running away from home and truancy. It cost more than $40.000 a year to lock up a child in this state, if each of the 159 counties in the state of Georgia lock up two lesser kids the state will save nearly 13 millions from its budget. There fore it is important to have summer programs like ours.
Zion Hope programs does not discriminate regardless of race, religion or culture, all children are accepted into the program. Our goal is to teach students the important of education, keep them out of jail and save the state money that can be put toward other resources to make our children more productive citizens of the United States.
